Our engagement
In addition to the monitoring activities undertaken for the biannual progress reports, the Independent Implementation Supervisor (IIS) is also continuing to engage with the Queensland community more broadly to understand how the Women's Safety and Justice Taskforce reforms are being implemented, where Queenslanders are observing impact and to highlight areas of opportunity moving forward.
Executive Leaders Roundtable Series: Conversations That Matter (June, August and October 2023)
Conversations That Matter provided an opportunity for senior executives to come together to discuss the challenges across critical social services such as domestic and family violence, First Nations health and wellbeing, child safety, youth justice, mental health and homelessness.
Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commissioner’s Inaugural Roundtable (September 2023)
The Roundtable brought together experts nationally to collaborate on how to advance the goal of ending violence against women and children in one generation. The IIS participated in discussions about the current efforts to collect data and measure what matters in people’s lives to build a shared understanding of how to measure impact across the country.
Lady Musgrave Trust Annual Forum (August 2023)
The Forum explored what is currently working to get women to a safer home, the constraints women experience, and the opportunities to improve housing responses for women who are at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness. The IIS listened to stakeholders talk about the reform program underway in Queensland and joined a panel presentation to discuss the role the IIS will play in overseeing the Women's Safety and Justice Taskforce reforms.
2023 Not Now, Not Ever. Together. Breakfast (December 2023)
The Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Council hosts an annual breakfast as an opportunity for Queenslanders to show their commitment to ending all forms of domestic and family violence, connect with others and learn about the new laws and programs in place to address this issue. This year's breakfast focused on the behaviours that contribute to coercive control and featured stories from victim-survivors of domestic and family violence from the Love ≠ Control campaign.
